What is Schema Therapy?
Schema Therapy combines Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques with interpersonal, experiential, and psychodynamic therapy elements to treat chronic and recurrent psychological disorders, such as personality disorders and chronic depression.
As an integrative therapy model, Schema Therapy does not focus solely on symptoms like traditional CBT but also examines their underlying origins, often rooted in childhood experiences.
Schema Therapy is one of the third-generation cognitive therapy models, which emphasizes that negative cognitive patterns stem from past experiences and provides strategies to facilitate change and modify maladaptive thoughts and behaviors.
